Blog #3 -- My Favorite Cover

Magazines Cover 2

1- EARLY MAGAZINE COVERS!!!

The early magazine cover the started from the mid-1700 didn't even have or use a image for their magazine by the 1835 they started to used more like a drawn picture and thats when the started to use more and more picture, making more attracted  and well prettier. By 1896 they started to use an actual image and making look cooler i guess you can say.

2- THE POSTER COVER:PICTURES THAT NEED NO WORDS

The magazine field was the dominate  for like 1890s to 1906s which is like 70 years. So it like really changed from the early magazine. It went from all word and one small drawn image cover, to having the photo or he image to take up the whole page. So its a whole different its more of a poster like cover and has only the title that pops out.

3- PICTURES MARRIED TO TYPE

On these cover they stared with the same style but now the words were more bigger, and they stared using a lot more words. They would use a large title with the model face overlapping it(we still do that)
Also they used cover lines on all sides of the model in one cover. The rest use almost the same style of cover the cover lines the title being the same and all. And as time moves along the start to use a lot more word but still keeping the poster type.

4-IN THE FOREST OF WORDS

Ok so this is more of the 21 st century when this all started happening, its like cover lines were just as important as cover art. Some covers had lines that were larger then the title, a good picture was not was enough for a good magazine. For cover photos are now mostly celebrities and models. Now and days we can rarely find a poster cover with little or no cover line we still have them but their not as popular now and days.

Protraits/self prortraits and photoshop intro

These are some that I really like and would like to do something like it. The black and white photo is great because I feel like even though its colorless and captures a lot more. I think I could do something like this for a portrait.

These two are my favorite self-portraits because well Mostly the bottom one because its well different. You don't usually see something like that and thats where I got my inspiration to do mine, I would love to have my self portrait to be me covered by paint and then have an empty canvas and a clean paint brush. I like to paint.

2.   Briefly describe what you looked at on the website (2-3 sentences, make sure you write enough to really make it clear that you spent time looking at the website).

I looked at photos with flare in them, I realize that flare isn't always bad in photos but can look better with a little flare. I looked at photos that where mostly yellow/soft orange color because of the sun, but there were also some that where like man made from the color lights that where either on a building or a  lamp or something in that kind.

3.  What did you learn new?

That I can use flare in black and white photos, and that back in the day people tryed to aviod flare now they seek it to make there photos look more creative.

4.   If possible, post your favorite photo from the site.

5.     If you have a photo to post, please answer the following questions:
a.     Why did you pick this photo?

I picked this photo because I liked the flare and that its not the face its the back which is cool because i don't really see that now and
days.

b.     What rules of photography do you see in the photo?

Um rule of thirds?

c.     Who took the photo?
